Concepts of Cleaning, Disinfection & Sanitation

Cleaning involves using soap solution or physical techniques to remove visible debris and dirt. It does not kill microorganisms.

Disinfection involves the use of chemicals to neutralize or kill 99.99999% microorganisms present. Reduce drastically the propagation of infections. Most disinfectant requires usually 5 to 10 minutes to achieve near complete disinfection.

Sanitation used chemicals or high heat to reduce the number of microorganism present on a surface or objects. Requires shorter contact time with the surface to achieved sanitation, the microorganism kill ratio is statistically less than disinfection but still very efficient in reducing infections rate.
