This practical, hands-on course teaches participants how to pre-plan, organize, and perform basic rescue operations for workers left suspended following a fall.

Under section 26.1(4) of Ontario Regulation 213/91 - Construction Projects, employers must develop written rescue procedures before a worker uses a fall-arrest system or safety net. This course helps employers support that requirement by preparing designated personnel to respond safely, promptly, and effectively to a fall-arrest emergency.

Participants learn how to assess fall and rescue hazards, develop site-specific rescue procedures, select and inspect rescue equipment, establish team roles and communications, and safely recover a suspended worker. The course also addresses suspension trauma, rescuer safety, casualty management, emergency services coordination, and the limitations of different rescue methods.

Although essential theory is included, the course places a strong emphasis on hands-on training and realistic rescue exercises. Participants practise equipment setup, casualty connection, controlled raising and lowering, and basic rescue techniques using commonly available fall-rescue systems.

This training is suitable for workers, supervisors, rescue team members, and other personnel who may be responsible for implementing or participating in a workplace fall-rescue plan.
